Causes of fatty liver

Fatty liver doesn’t appear overnight. It’s often the result of everyday habits, diet choices, and underlying metabolic issues quietly piling up over time. Ayurveda focuses on treating the root causes, not just the symptoms—because true healing begins by removing the triggers that overload your liver.

Here are the main reasons behind fatty liver:

 1. Excessive Alcohol Consumption: Alcohol is a heavy workload for the liver. Every drink produces byproducts that injure liver cells and slow down fat processing, tipping the liver toward fat accumulation.

 2. Poor Diet Choices: Refined sugars, fried foods, saturated fats, and heavily processed meals overwhelm your metabolism, encouraging fat to settle in the liver instead of being burned for energy.

 3. Obesity & Abdominal Fat: Extra weight, especially around the midsection, puts constant strain on the liver, making it harder to process fats efficiently.

 4. Insulin Resistance and Diabetes: When your body struggles to regulate blood sugar, fat metabolism suffers. This often leads to fat being stored in the liver—a quiet but dangerous buildup.

 5. Sedentary Lifestyle: Lack of regular movement slows metabolism, reduces fat burning, and encourages fat storage. Even light daily activity can make a huge difference. 6. Certain Medications: Prolonged use of some drugs can stress the liver, tipping the balance toward fat accumulation and impaired function.
