How It Is Done

1.Back Massage (Side-Lying)

  • Warm oil is applied to the back
  • Long strokes from upper back to lower back
  • Circular movements on shoulder blades
  • Gentle kneading along spine muscles
  • Extra focus on lower back and hips
  • 2.Legs Massage
  • Massage begins from thigh → knee → calf → ankle
  • Long, smooth strokes are used
  • Circular movements on joints
  • Gentle squeezing of calf muscles
  • 3.Arms & Shoulders
  • Strokes from shoulder → elbow → wrist
  • Circular movements on shoulder joints
  • Gentle massage on palms and fingers

Patra Pinda Sweda (Herbal Bolus Therapy – Low Back)

How It Is Done

Bolus Preparation

  • Herbal bolus is heated in medicated oil
  • Temperature is checked before application
  • Maintained warm throughout the therapy
  • Application – right side
  • Applied from sacrum → lower back → mid back
  • Gentle circular strokes
  • Mild tapping movements
  • Bolus is reheated regularly
  • Application – left Side
  • Same procedure repeated on the other side
  • Continuous comfort check with mother

Herbal Bath (Mother)

How It Is Done

  1. Positioning
  • Mother is seated on a stool in bathing area
  • Body is supported comfortably
  • Warm environment is maintained
  1. Herbal Water Preparation
  • Herbal decoction is prepared and kept warm
  • Temperature is checked before use
  1. Bath Process
  • Herbal water poured from shoulders downward
  • Sequence followed:
    • Shoulders → back → arms
    • Abdomen (gentle pouring only)
    • Legs → feet
  • No harsh rubbing
  • Mild herbal powder used only if required
  1. Optional Hair Wash
  • Done only if needed
  • Mild herbal cleansing used
  • Head dried immediately

Patta Bandhana (Abdominal Wrapping)

How It Is Done

  1. Preparation
  • Done after massage and bath
  • Abdomen is dried completely
  • Clean cloth or binder is used
  1. Positioning
  • Mother lies in supine or semi-reclined position
  • Support provided if needed
  1. Wrapping Technique
  • Cloth placed under lower abdomen
  • Wrapped from lower abdomen upward
  • Even and gentle pressure maintained
  1. Adjustment
  • Checked for comfort
  • Ensures easy breathing and movement
  • Knot secured at side or back
  1. Completion
  • Wrap is kept for few hours
  • Removed if any discomfort occurs

Baby massage

How It Is Done

  1. Leg Massage
  • Baby’s ankle is held gently for support
  • Smooth downward strokes from thigh → foot
  • Circular movements on knee and ankle joints
  • No pulling or stretching movements
  1. Foot Massage
  • Gentle thumb pressure applied on sole
  • Circular strokes on heels
  • Pressure kept very light
  1. Arm Massage
  • Wrist is supported gently
  • Downward strokes from shoulder → wrist
  • Circular movements over elbow and shoulder joints
  • Arm is supported throughout the massage
  1. Hand Massage
  • Baby’s fist is opened gently (only if relaxed)
  • Soft massage on palm and fingers
  1. Chest Massage
  • Gentle outward strokes from center of chest
  • Light circular movements below collarbone
  • Nipple area is avoided
  1. Abdomen Massage
  • Umbilical stump is kept covered and untouched
  • Oil is not applied on the stump
  • Gentle clockwise circular strokes around navel
  • Maintain safe distance from stump
  • Only soft, light pressure used
  1. Back Massage
  • Baby is turned carefully to prone position (if allowed)
  • Long strokes from shoulders → buttocks
  • Mild circular strokes on lower back
  1. Face & Head Massage
  • Very gentle strokes on forehead, temples, and cheeks
  • Light scalp massage
  • No pressure on soft spot (fontanelle)
  • Oil is kept away from eyes, nose, and mouth

 

Baby bath

How It Is Done

  1. Holding Position
  • Baby is held securely in therapist’s arm
  • Neck, shoulders, and head are fully supported
  • Head is always kept above water level
  1. Bathing Process
  • Warm herbal water is gently poured from shoulders downward
  • Cleaning is done softly using hands (no harsh rubbing)
  • Back is cleaned by safely supporting the baby on the therapist’s forearm
  • Umbilical stump is kept dry and protected at all times
  1. Face Cleaning
  • Face is cleaned gently using warm water
  • No soap or harsh products are used
  1. Optional Head Wash
  • Done only if required
  • Mild herbal water is used
  • Scalp is dried immediately after
  1. Completion
  • Baby is dried immediately using a soft towel
  • Umbilical area is rechecked and kept dry
  • Baby is wrapped in a warm towel for comfort
